Q: What is new this year?
A: NEW for 2018 and provided to you at the WHAKA 100 - CLIF Nut Butter Filled Bar™
The athletes and foodies in the Clif kitchen have crafted a different kind of energy bar. CLIF® Nut Butter Filled Energy Bar brings together two great energy foods – a delicious, creamy nut butter inside an organic energy bar – to deliver sustained energy.
Q: What inspired CLIF Bar to get involved with Whaka100?
A: CLIF Bar is excited to continue our involvement with the Whaka 100. For more than 20 years, CLIF Bar has proudly supported the world’s top athletes by offering high quality sports nutrition made with organic ingredients to help them cross the finish line. We love feeding the Mountain bikers of the Whaka 100 and will provide our newest CLIF Nut Butter Filled Energy Bars to help the riders strive to hit their PR’s this October.
Q: What are some of the benefits of the products and when should they be used?
A: CLIF Bars and /or CLIF Nut Butter Bars should be eaten about 1-3 hours before exercise along with water to prevent hunger and supply energy to working muscles. During prolonged lower intensity activity CLIF Bars can be eaten during the activity to help satiate hunger and meet carbohydrate needs. For a quick burst of energy during activity try the easily digested CLIF SHOT Energy Gels or SHOT BLOK Energy Chews. Generally, performance athletes need to consume 200-400 calories per hour of exercise, we recommend 1-2 serves per hour during activity (depending on caffeine level) to help support your needs, consumption of CLIF SHOT products should always be followed with a mouthful of water.
