The Whaka100 proudly holds the reputation of one of the toughest mountain bike marathons in the southern hemisphere. With 100, 50, 25 or 10km course options, this event takes the rider through some of the best single track in the world, providing a great contrast of handcrafted trails and rugged mountain bike bliss. Featuring cross-country riding at its finest, this event gives competitors a chance to show off skill and endurance. This 12th edition of the Whaka100 has a cash prize pool of over $5,100 along with $20,000 in giveaways, 237 sought-after podium medals and 1,000 finishers medals. The Whaka100 includes six events over two days: Rotorua Isuzu Shootout Time Trial, 5.5km kids ride, 25km, 50km, 100km (relay, pairs, individual), king of the mountain, plus live music and an expo.

- The event runs on 20 - 21st October.
- The Whaka100 is located in the world famous trails of the Whakarewarewa Forest in Rotorua. With master crafted trails, beautiful scenery and unbeatable dirt, the Whakarewarewa mountain bike trails are known as an impressive riding destination.
- The forest is made up of 160km of continually evolving trails, with trail options for all abilities. This event takes riders through some of the best single track trails in the world.
- The Whaka100 includes six events over two days: Rotorua Isuzu Shootout Time Trial, 5.5km kids ride, 25km, 50km, 100km (relay, pairs, individual), king of the mountain, plus live music and an expo.

- There has been a 21 percent growth this year, with a 7 percent increase in female riders. The increased growth of the event is not related to locals, but domestic entries with a large percentage travelling from the South Island and 96 percent of people traveling from outside of Rotorua.

The 50km course:
The 50km is every bit of goodness that we can squeeze out of the Whaka 100km distance but without the crazy hill climbs, well there maybe be a hill or two.
The 25km course:
This 25km is for mountain bikers of all abilities and takes in the world famous trails of Rotorua. The course is set a mixture of grade 2-3 trails with short climbs and flowing trails.
